Mining Downer EDI’s Mining division has been successfully delivering civil earthmoving and contract mining services to an impressive list of global clients for almost 90 years.

As one of Australia’s major providers of mining and mine development services, the division is also working with our Engineering, Consulting and Works divisions to deliver whole-of-life asset design, development, management and maintenance services to its extensive client base.

With almost 2,500 employees working across more than 50 sites, Downer EDI’s Mining division, under the leadership of new Chief Executive Officer David Overall, is well-placed to capitalise on the extensive opportunities emanating from its current tender pipeline of more than $5 billion.

The division has an impressive track record in coal and metalliferous mining and broad experience in open-cut and underground mine planning, operation and rehabilitation, civil and bulk earthworks, exploration drilling, blasting services and explosives manufacture and supply, crushing services and tyre management.

Following the success of its renewable fuel trial, the Mining division has rolled out a National biodiesel (B20) Program, making it the largest user of B20 in the Australian mining industry and has developed a suite of low-carbon solutions, including eco-efficiency operator training and fugitive methane assessments.
