Downer EDI’s Rail Division is the leading provider of design, build and maintenance services for passenger cars, locomotives and wagons in Australia. The recent award of the Yarra Trams franchise in partnership with our joint venture partner Keolis will also make us the largest maintainer and operator of light rail in Australia.

The Rail division’s broad range of capabilities and expertise includes:

• Rolling stock design, manufacture and maintenance
• Project financing and leasing
• Rail signalling, security and safety solutions

for passenger cars, freight wagons, locomotives and light rail.

Employing close to 2,000 full-time staff across Australia and New Zealand, the division is also one of the largest employers of apprentices with more than 135 currently employed through a combination of direct employment and group training companies.

Downer EDI’s Rail division maintains 32 per cent of the national locomotive fleet in Australia, with a further 55 per cent maintained in-house by our clients.
